Miss Blanche

“I have always been interested in writing poetry about art. Using Flash to create animated and interactive poetry was a natural combination because it allowed me to include visuals with the text. This new medium has opened opportunities for poetry that it never had on paper. I wrote “Miss Blanche” as a social criticism of the negative influences of advertising. When Miss Blanche was created to sell Virginia Cigarettes in 1926, she was supposed to show that smoking cigarettes promised sophistication and confidence. “Miss Blanche” is part of my thesis for the Master of Fine Arts degree at Minnesota State University Moorhead”. —Kurt Kleidon

A Flash player is necessary to view the poems
